The Plants Are Talking back
The Plants Are Talking is a surrealist composition born from a single moment in a San Diego park, where the play of light on a wall sparked a narrative that serves as the final chapter in my Escape of the Spiders series. While the setting began in the daylight, I have bent the world to my own vision, transforming the scene into a vibrant symphony of hot pink, red-orange, and deep violet where nature defies the ordinary. In this world, the plants are yelling—caught in a chaotic, lively argument—while a solitary lightbulb glows from a mysterious window, acting as a beacon of curiosity for what might be happening just out of sight. Above this drama, a paper airplane glides from that same window, and spider stowaways wait for their chance to escape. Amidst this whimsical scene, I have woven in my signature black-and-white stripes—a quiet, recurring tribute to my brother, a brilliant pianist whose musical rhythm continues to guide my paintings. My art is a world of my own making, designed to bring joy through curiosity, and I hope you find as much delight in the hidden details of this scene as I did in creating it.
