In The Violet Jungle
This sneaker is a wearable interpretation of my original painting, In The Violet Jungle, a piece born from my time living on Maui. My art is a way of creating a world that I want to live in—a world that is vibrant, surreal, and designed to ignite a sense of joy.
The landscape is a memory of a place so stunningly lush and oversized that it felt like stepping into a dream. My work for a helicopter company allowed me to explore every corner of the island—from soaring over Haleakala volcano to the lush rainforests of Hana. Living on the North Shore it rained just enough each day to ensure a rainbow appeared, and the plants grew to enormous dimensions, making the landscape seem surreal, so it didn't take much to exaggerate my own painting. This design is saturated in violets and rhythmic shapes and patterns—a bright study of the untamed island where nature defies the ordinary.
